XenApp 6.5 V4 Documentation Script Has Been Updated 30-Dec-2013

    December 30, 2013

    PowerShell, XenApp 6.5

While working on the XenApp 6.5 V4.1 script, I came across a group of settings that I needed to add and decided those settings should also be in the current V4 script.

While working on a XenDesktop 5.6 project recently, I was doing some research and saw some new policy settings for XenApp 6.5.  The Citrix Mobility Pack adds a User policy node (Mobile Experience) that has three settings.  You must install the Citrix Mobility Pack in order to see or use these settings.

The next policy settings are only available for Citrix AD based policies.  You can only see the policy settings from the Group Policy Management console and not from AppCenter.

The first policy setting is for the Initial Zone when a server joins a XenApp 6.5 Farm.  This is typically used when provisioning servers using a product like Citrix PVS.

The last three settings are also used when provisioning new XenApp 6.5 servers.

In the Word document, the new settings appear as shown below.

NOTE: This script is continually updated.  You can always find the most current version by going to https://carlwebster.com/where-to-get-copies-of-the-documentation-scripts/

      Hi Carl,
first of all … happy new year 2014!
I have a problem with the French version of Word 2010.

“Attempt to load cover page Ligne latérale”
      “Script hs been aborted”

Have you an idea to fix it?
      Thank you in advance

Thx for the update Carl! Quick question, when I run the script on a XenApp 6.5 R02 farms with approximately 80 servers, it takes hours to finish. I was using powershell 4 and ran the script from the controller server as domain admin. I am missing something ?

What options did you select? -Hardware, -software?
What version of Word? Word 2013 is about 66% slower than Word 2007 and about 44% slower than Word 2010.
Are all the XenApp servers local to the server running the script?

If possible, if you could either capture a trace or send me the output of the verbose text from the console, that will help me pinpoint the slowness.

I am trying to find a way to not require the use of Word. When I do, that may require a rewrite of the scripts BUT it should allow the script to run many times faster.

        Thanks
